Per Søetorp about Johanne Vie: In times where it goes 13 artists to the dozen, it is a true pleasure to recommend a colourful pop girl, with both integrity and musical talent. Johanne Vie is not a newcomer, and her solo début is a result of many years of various activities as backing vocalist and solo singer. As a band leader, a producer and a musician, I have followed her development through many projects she has participated in, all the way since the end of the 80's. Johanne knows who she is, and what she wants and can. It is thus a mature girl – in both life experience and in artistic expression – who is finally taking the step a lot of her listeners have been waiting for so long. At the same time, this girl is still young and vital, and she radiates a natural joy, security and credibility that many young pop artists are lacking these days. Her solo début is absolutely not a nostalgic retro-trip, but a fresh breath of something new. It bears a witness of loads of musical potential for the years to come. Johanne is tough in her style without seeming phoney, and she sings nice and clean, without being polished or flashy. It's like she invites the listeners to relax, and to sing with her, like most of us like to do in our everyday life. Above all, she communicates an authentic, personal and natural expression through a cool and colourful image. Her musical material is simple pop, relaxing, ear-catching, free of convulsive clichés, without becoming too complicated, shallow or boring. Simplicity is often the best, and Johanne proves this through her productions of beautiful ballads (As I am/Don't worry), as well as in pop songs with a little more oomph (Free). Listening to Johanne Vie makes one happy! She communicates something important, something that is easy to recognize to young people at all ages: Believe in yourself as whom you are (Beautiful girl). At the same time, she's not hiding that she seriously believes in something bigger than herself (Come to me). This adds a bigger and deeper dimension into her songs, without being intrusive. So, please welcome Johanne Vie – she deserves the best launch and reception!
